On Saturday February 13th fourteen members of the Hampton Roads Region toured the MacArthur Memorial Museum and Research Center located at 198 Bank Street, Norfolk, Virginia followed by a short tour of the Slover Library located one block away at 235 East Plume Street. We followed up the library tour with our February meeting and lunch at the Cuisine Cafe located in the library.

The Slover Library, opened just a year ago, is both architecturally and technologically impressive.
It combines the restored historic Seaboard building with the soaring glass atrium and steel sculptures of the new 6 story addition. Inside there is something for everyone including the Sargeant Memorial historical photo collection of Hampton Roads accessible through a gallery of wall mounted touch screens. The MacArthur Museum has a new visitor center which contains MacArthur’s staff car, the 1950 Chrysler Crown Imperial, a WWII Jeep as well as other exhibits.
